CARICOM Secretary-General congratulates returning Barbados Prime Minister

Posted: Thursday, January 20, 2022. 2:16 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) welcomed back one of their own to its ranks – Prime Minister of the Republic of Barbados, Mia Mottley.

Prime Minister Mottley’s Barbados Labour Party (BLP) once again swept all 30 seats in the Barbados House of Assembly from their political rivals in Wednesday’s general elections.

CARICOM Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett wrote to Prime Minister Mottley, “The overwhelming success of the Barbados Labour Party indicates that the people of the country have every confidence in your stewardship and look forward to your continued leadership to guide them on a path that would ensure their progress.”

She added, “I look forward to working with you once again in deepening and strengthening our integration movement and in confronting the many challenges besetting the Community at present. You can be assured, Prime Minister, of the support of the CARICOM Secretariat in that endeavour.”
