Guinea Grass clash with Caribbean Rum Boyz on Sunday in Orange Walk FA 1st Division Final

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After knocking off defending champions Progresso, Guinea Grass will now go for all the marbles against Caribbean Rum Boyz on Sunday in the Orange Walk FA 1st Division Final.

The match is scheduled for 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 23, at the Louisiana Government School field.

Guinea Grass eliminated Progresso in a 4-2 penalty kicks shootout after a 1-1 draw last weekend. They had to come from behind after Dedron Baptist scored a spectacular goal for Progresso in the 14th minute. Francisco Rivas tied it for Guinea Grass in the 27th to force the shootout.

Brian Westby, Leonardo Can, Miguel Yco, and Charles Tillett scored for Guinea Grass. Jaheim Augustine and Tyriq “Hammer” Ciego converted Progresso’s two goals.

Caribbean Rum Boyz made it to the Final in style, wiping out Yo Creek La Ceiba 6-1.

Richard Gillett scored a brace for the Rum Boyz in the 38th and 40th minutes, while Russel Cassanova (14’), Irvin Osorio (44’), Camilo Sanchez (53’), and Ricky Valdez’s (72’ penalty kick) converted the others.

Edimir Carillo claimed Yo Creek’s only goal in the 70th minute.
