By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) is taking a break from training for the weekend.

According to Philip Marin, Technical Director at the Football Federation of Belize, the BMNT was released on Friday evening and the players were allowed to go home for the weekend. They are expected to report back to training on Monday morning at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) headquarters in Belmopan.

The BMNT was summoned on Tuesday to start training for the Concacaf Nations League which comes up in June. As a first preparatory jaunt, the BMNT is to travel next Wednesday to Managua, Nicaragua, where they will play against that country’s national team on Saturday, January 29, and Tuesday, February 1. Both games will be at 7:00 pm.

Twenty players were in camp this week including Deon McCaulay who joined the BMNT on Thursday.

Midfielder Nana Yaw Mensah from NY Greek American (USA), and strikers Michael Salazar from Memphis 901 (USA), and Carlos Bernardez from Real España (Honduras) are expected here within the next few days.
