By Benjamin Flowers: Leader of the Opposition Patrick Faber made news this week, once again on accusations of domestic violence, and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) reminded him today that he promised that would stop.
The NTUCB issued a statement condemning all violence against women and emphasized that it has zero tolerance for such violence as well as the men who perpetrate it.
“The Leader of the Opposition has repeatedly been called out for being involved in such acts of violence against women and act which he has publicly admitted,” the NTUCB said. “He also publicly stated that he was going to stop behaving in such a manner.”
The NTUCB has also called for government stakeholders to make constitutional provisions to make domestic violence as grounds for disqualification from being a member of parliament.
