By Benjamin Flowers: Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard has reported an optimistic end to his recent meeting with former Director of Health Services Dr. Marvin Manzanero.
While he did not provide specific details of the meeting, Bernard gave an update today saying “I believe we will make headway with Dr. Marvin Manzanero by Monday. I shall keep you all updated.”
Earlier this week, Bernard said that he intends to bring Dr. Manzanero back to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) following his removal and the subsequent dissolution of his former post. Bernard was met with an immediate outpour of public support for this decision, as Manzanero was highly favored by the public for his leadership during the early onset of the pandemic.
Prime Minister John Briceno has gone on record on several occasions to say he is no fan of Dr. Manzanaero’s performance, and reiterated the point this week that he feels Manzanero lacks the right skill set to lead the national COVID-19 response. Briceno also said that he trusts Bernard’s judgment, and is willing to support his decision as Minister if he wishes to Bring Manzanero back in some senior management capacity.
