New cases of COVID down for second consecutive day

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness is reporting slightly fewer new cases of COVID-19 today at 794, a second straight day of reduction from the record high reported earlier this week.

However, even with 611 new recoveries, there is a net increase of active cases by 185 to 9,423, with 328 samples under investigation.

The national positivity rate is approaching 11 percent as Belize has passed 45 thousand total cases, with more than 38 thousand recovered or 78 percent of the population.

Four new deaths were also reported, lifting the death count from COVID to 616 and 13 for the month of January.
