UDP Deputy Leader Hugo Patt issues strong condemnation to any form of abuse against women

By Aaron Humes: Chairman of the United Democratic Party Michael Peyrefitte was serious and strident in demanding the immediate resignation of his party leader, Patrick Faber, following a police report of domestic abuse of his fiancée.

Deputy Leader Hugo Patt was more measured in a rare press statement issued the same day, referring to his Christian faith and “absolute and strong condemnation to any form of abuse including domestic and abuse against women.”

Patt continued stating generally that “As leaders elected by the public, we have a responsibility to lead by example. It is with even a higher degree to public office that we must always consider our actions and conduct ourselves with respect because we owe it to ourselves, our people and nation. And by holding public office, our lives and that of our families, will always be in the public discourse.”

Patt concluded, “I therefore urge everyone, elected officials alike, to always refrain from any form of abuse, especially those that affect and impact our families.”
