By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Central Health Region is taking to the streets to get people vaccinated against COVID-19 in Belize City and Belize Rural this week

The Central Health Region is calling it the Vaccination Outreach Pop-Up and this morning they showed up at the corner of Queen Street and New Road in front of Simon Quan and across from the Queen St. Police Station.

“This morning we were able to vaccinate approximately 50 persons, those who wanted their booster shot, those who needed their second dose, and we also did some first-timers,” said Emir Castañeda, Health Educator at the MOHW Central Health Region.

“We continue with this vaccine campaign this week. Tomorrow (Tuesday) we will be by Brodies by the corner on Albert Street next to Battlefield Park. We’re showing up ourselves on the streets so that people, walkers, passersby can see us and if they decide to take their vaccines there, they are able to do it,” Castañeda added.

“We’re still giving water bottles, pens, and bags. Whoever gets their shot out, they are entitled to get a water bottle. Drink water.”

As Castañeda said, the outreach continues Tuesday, January 25, with COVID-19 vaccinations by Brodies on Albert Street from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

On Wednesday, January 26, the outreach team will be at the Mirab Department Store on the Philip Goldson Highway from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Then, on Friday, January 28, they’ll be at the Ladyville Health Center for Ladyville and Lords Bank from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and in Belize City at 88 Shopping Center on Central American Boulevard from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

On Saturday, January 29, the Outreach Pop-Up will be at the Michael Finnegan Market on West Collet Canal from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues encouraging Belizeans 12 years and up to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at any of its vaccination sites countrywide. The MOHW is also advising those persons who qualify for a booster shot to do so now.
