Another thousand-case day overshadowing COVID recovery

By Aaron Humes: After a weekend’s respite as it relates to the ratio between new cases and recoveries, the COVID-19 pandemic bit back today.

1,116 new cases were confirmed against 846 recoveries – the fourth time in the last two weeks that cases have gone above a thousand.

The number of active cases has now risen to 9,579 with 349 samples under investigation and a positivity rate of 30.3 percent on the day and 11.2 percent cumulatively.

Belize has now reported 48,263 total cases of COVID-19 of which 38,021 or 78.8 percent of the population has recovered.

No new deaths were reported however.
