By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “Today Mayor Rigo Vellos & Councillor Marleni Tapia were joined by Marshall Nunez, Coordinator of the Ministry of Human Development’s Disability Desk, to assist Corozaleño Miguel Vejerano with a sponsored Trade License for his business “ITech Solutions” in Corozal Town,” said the Corozal Town Council on social media.

Last week, Vejerano, who is visually impaired, received a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Inclusivity Grant of $2,500 from the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to start his business. The BCCI selected Vejerano’s proposal out of seven business proposals presented by persons with disabilities.

The Corozal Town Council said Vejerano has been visually impaired since he was 13, “but that has not stopped his quest for knowledge and improvement”.

“Mr. Vejerano is self-taught on computer use and repairs, despite his challenges,” said the Corozal Town Council.

“He has also developed a community program to assist others who are visually impaired to become computer literate and to use smart devices to learn. He will now start his own business, offering computer repair services.”

According to the Corozal Town Council post, Mayor Vellos encouraged Vejerano to remain focused on his business and “to bring about positive change in the community”. Mayor Vellos said that the support from the Council should help Vejerano in achieving his goal.
