FFB presents Belize Men’s National Football Team plus new coaches

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize presented the Belize Men’s National Football Team, head coach David Pérez Asensio and assistant head coach Manuel Poot Can on Tuesday in a virtual press conference.

The presentation comes one day before the BMNT travels to Nicaragua to play two friendlies.

The players called by Pérez and his coaching staff are:

Goalkeepers: Woodrow West from Verdes and Isaac Castillo from Garden City.

Defenders: Evral Trapp, Norman Anderson, and Allence Ayala from Verdes, Collin Westby from Altitude, Donnell Arzu from Wagiya, Ian Gaynair from Garden City, Allan Barillas and Kendale Butler from Altitude.

Midfielders: Jordy Polanco, Darrel Myvett and Eldon Reneau from Verdes, Denmark Casey from Garden City, Warren Moss from Wagiya, Nana Yaw Mensah from NY Greek American (USA), and Rene Leslie and Luis Torres from Altitude.

Forwards: Krisean Lopez and Jesse August from Verdes, Deon McCaulay, Atlético Atlanta, Rome Gladiators (USA), Michael Salazar from Memphis 901 (USA).

Thirty-nine-year-old Pérez, who is from Madrid, has been coaching Verdes since July 2021. He recently signed a one-year renewal with Verdes but at the same time has signed as BMNT coach until September.

He is joined at the helm of the BMNT by Mexican Poot Can who is his assistant coach at Verdes.

Both said they are happy to join the BMNT and will do their utmost best to try to develop the team and make it more competitive.

The other members of the technical staff travelling are: goalkeeper coach Stanley Reneau, fitness coach Dennis Serano, physical therapist Thomas Rivars, team doctor Dr Carlos Crespo, equipment manager Herbert Trap Jr., and Technical Director Philip Marin.

The BMNT travels to Managua, Nicaragua on Wednesday and will play against the Nicaraguan National Team on Saturday, January 29 and Tuesday, February 1. Both games will be at 7:00pm.
