By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment (MED), and Investment is offering six jobs for consultants for a poverty reduction and economic growth program funded by the United States Government.
According to a press release by the Ministry, Belize is one of two countries in the world selected by the US Government-funded Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for a five-year government-to-government grant to fund a program aimed at reducing poverty and stimulating economic growth.
MED is proceeding with contracting consultants to form an MCC Compact Development Team in Belize that will work together with a US-based MCC Team. The team will “conduct a diagnostic of the constraints to economic growth, prepare concept notes, develop project proposals and plan for project implementation.”
The Ministry is looking to fill the following positions: Development Economist, Private Sector Development Specialist, Social Inclusion and Gender Integration Specialist, Environmental and Social Performance Specialist, Public Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, plus an Administrative Assistant.
MED said the MCC Compact Development Team will be led by a program coordinator. The team will “engage key stakeholders across all sectors, and bear responsibility for the overall performance and work quality of the team.”
The Ministry said it is offering competitive salaries and benefits, commensurate with academic level, work experience, and other relevant strengths of the winning candidate.
