Cayo District passes 10 thousand confirmed cases of COVID-19

By Aaron Humes: The Cayo District has reported 228 new cases of COVID-19 to pass the 10 thousand mark with 10,488 total cases since the pandemic began.

San Ignacio Town added 44 new cases and Belmopan 41, with Benque Viejo adding 21, Santa Elena 19, Camalote 17, Esperanza and Maya Mopan 11 and San Martin 10.

While most of the Belize District reported fewer than 10 new cases each, Belize City added 113 and Ladyville 22, with San Pedro Town separately reporting 45.

Orange Walk Town reported 61 of 123 new cases and Trial Farm 21; Corozal Town reported 21 new cases of 82 in the District and Xaibe 10; Dangriga added 25 and Independence 17 of 60 new cases in Stann Creek; and Punta Gorda Town 29 of 91 new cases across the Toledo District.

The mainland Belize District has 16,093 total cases from the start of the pandemic; Orange Walk, 6,686; Stann Creek, 5,911; Corozal, 4,000; Toledo, 3,203 and San Pedro, 2,603.
