Deputy Party Leader of the UDP Hugo Patt not interested in becoming Party Leader

Posted: Wednesday, January 26, 2022. 9:12 am CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: While candidates are emerging to offer themselves up for leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) after Patrick Faber’s announcement of resignation earlier this week, Corozal North Area Representative and UDP Deputy Party Leader Hugo Patt says he will not be one of them.

Patt recently confirmed to Krem News that he has no intention of offering himself up for party leader. He has also been secretive about which candidate he would support in their bid for a leader. Patt recently issued a public statement, condemning all forms of abuse at the height of Faber’s controversy that ultimately led to his resignation.

Thus far Tracy Taegar Panton and Moses Shyne Barrow have announced their interest in filling the void and will get their shot at the post in an upcoming convention that needs to take place after 90 days starting on January 31 when Faber’s resignation becomes official.

This still leaves time for any other interested parties to join the race for leadership.
