By Benjamin Flowers: Prime Minister John Briceño left the country this week to attend the inauguration of new Honduran President, Xiomara Castro De Zelaya but he has used the opportunity to attend other diplomatic meetings while he is there.

Briceño arrived in Honduras on Wednesday and said that, since then, he has managed to meet with Vice President El Salvador Felix Ulloa Jr.

“We spoke on varied regional matters, especially SICA and ways to revitalize that regional body. I also extended Belize’s invite for President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele to attend the CARICOM/SICA Summit on 3 March this year,” Briceño said.

Also on his trip, Briceño was accompanied by his Chief Executive Officer Amalia Mai, and Foreign Minister Eamon Courtenay, who met with Vice President Lai Ching-te of Taiwan,

“Our meeting took place at the vice president’s hotel, where we discussed a wide range of issues of mutual concern. We shared mutual concerns and expressed optimism for our continued bilateral collaboration,” he added.

Briceño is scheduled to return to Belize tomorrow.
