By Benjamin Flowers: Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Lai Ching-te (賴清德) has invited Prime Minister John Briceño to take a trip to his country, Taiwan News reports.

Vice President Lai met with PM Briceño this week in Honduras for the inauguration of Honduran President-elect Xiomara Castro. Lai met with Briceno at his hotel, where the two discussed issues of mutual concern and expressed the hope that their countries would continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation, Channel News Asia (CNA) reported.

He also invited Briceño to make a stop in Tainan, the city Lai was previously the mayor of. Vice President Lai said Briceño’s last visit was many years ago, and that this next trip would have a different feeling.

During their discussion, Briceño mentioned that he is planning a trip to Taiwan in March, which Lai welcomed.

Lai was accompanied by a delegation which included Taiwanese Representative to the U.S. Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General Li Chun-yi (李俊俋), and Vice Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Tah-ray Yui (俞大㵢).
