By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After a long trip by road and air from Belize, passing through Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, the Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) is finally in Managua where they will face the Nicaraguan National Team on Saturday night.
The BMNT arrived late on Thursday evening and will be training in Managua on Friday preparing for the two friendly matches they will play at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, and Tuesday, February 1, at the Estadio Nacional in Managua.
They travelled by road to Santa Elena, Peten on Wednesday. From there they flew to Guatemala City and then to San Salvador where they overnighted on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, The BMNT took a bus for crossing through Honduras to get to Nicaragua.
The games against the Nicaraguan National Team are in preparation for the CONCACAF Nations League which kicks off in June.
Head coach David Pérez Asensio said the BMNT should play a couple more international games in March during the next FIFA window which allows for international matches.
