By Anita Nembhard, Freelance Reporter: Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources Cordel Hyde took his team from the Lands Department to Ladyville Village to make the services of the department readily available to the people of the Belize Rural Central Constituency.
Hyde and his team, who have been conducting mobile lands services countrywide since last year, were in Ladyville on Thursday and today, where people could pay their taxes, apply to purchase lease land, lodge a query, and many of the other services that the department offers.
Area Representative for Belize Rural Central, Dolores Balderamos Garcia, was also out there with her constituents as a part of the process and addressed a rumor going around that land was being given away.
“Let me clarify though, land noh di give out. Wi noh di giving out land,” Balderamos Garcia said.
She noted that the department would have to conduct searches in areas like Hattieville, Ladyvill, and other areas to find house lots before they could be distributed to applicants. She thanked Hyde for making the services available which saved those wanting to access them a trip to Belmopan to do so. Baldaramos Garcia also noted that hosting the Lands Department at the Ladyville Community Center was a huge undertaking, which even required increasing the internet capabilities at the center to facilitate the initiative.
She also stressed that COVID-19 regulations were strictly adhered to throughout the initiative.
