Belmopan cop Solomon Ikaal killed in traffic accident

By Aaron Humes: Police have confirmed the identity of tonight’s road traffic accident victim in Cayo as one of their own, Police Corporal Solomon Ikaal.

Around 8 p.m., Roaring Creek Police found Ical lying within the Guanacaste Roundabout at the junction of the George Price and Hummingbird Highways injured and a Meilun scooter motorcycle lying not far away per an official police report.

Corporal Ikaal, who worked at the Belmopan Police Station, was traveling on the scooter heading out of the capital toward the George Price Highway at a quarter to eight when he lost control and ran into the concrete divider, landing within the monument.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. Police investigations continue.
