By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After a two-day road and air trip to Nicaragua and day to train and recover, the Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) is playing the Nicaraguan National Team on Saturday night at 7:00 pm at the Estadio Nacional in Managua.
The FFB said the game, which is considered an official friendly by FIFA, will be broadcast and live-streamed by Nicaragua’s Canal 6.
The BMNT left Belmopan at 6:00 am on Friday and arrived in Managua after 10:00 pm on Thursday night. On Friday, they rested and trained at 7:00 pm in preparation for tonight’s friendly match.
The BMNT will play another match against the same rival on Tuesday night as well.
Initially the two matches were to be played on January 26 and 29, but then the Nicaraguan Football Association (FENIFUT) invited Guatemala and the two games became a triangular. However, earlier this week, Guatemala pulled out because they couldn’t get a direct flight.
The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) couldn’t get a direct flight for the national team either but decided to travel by road and air.
