By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Deon McCaulay will lead Belize’s attack against Nicaragua tonight, according to the Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) lineup released by the Football Federation of Belize (FFB).
New national team coach David Pérez has opted for a mix of experience and youth with his 4-3-3 formation.
Woodrow West (Verdes) will man the goal.
In front of him, Donnell Arzu (Wagiya) and Allan Barillas (Altitude) will be the fullbacks. Captain Everal Trapp (Verdes) will be the left-back and Collin Westby (Altitude) the right back.
Darrel Myvett (Verdes) will be the defensive midfielder with Warren Moss (Wagiya) playing a bit ahead on the left and Jordy Polanco (Verdes) on the right.
The forward line will have McCaulay (Rome Gladiators) as the striking forward with the other two forwards, Jesse August (Verdes) on the left and Krisean Lopez (Verdes) on the right playing a bit behind.
Perez will make substitutions from the following players:
Goalkeepers: Isaac Castillo (Garden City)
Defenders: Norman Anderson, and Allence Ayala (Verdes), Ian Gaynair (Garden City), and Kendale Butler (Altitude).
Midfielders: Eldon Reneau (Verdes), Denmark Casey (Garden City), Nana Yaw Mensah (NY Greek American – USA), and Rene Leslie and Luis Torres (Altitude).
Forwards: Michael Salazar (Memphis 901 – USA).
The game at the Estadio Nacional in Managua starts at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 29. A second game is set for Tuesday, February 1, at the same time and venue.
The games against the Nicaraguan National Team are in preparation for the CONCACAF Nations League which kicks off in June.
