Patrick Faber has not yet tendered resignation but date of leadership convention reportedly set

By Aaron Humes: As of this evening, Leader of the Opposition and of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Patrick Faber has not formally resigned from either of his positions as Leader of the Opposition and of the United Democratic Party, as he committed to doing last week, according to Party Chairman Michael Peyrefitte.

In a telephone interview with Breaking Belize News this evening, the Chairman indicated that the party will proceed to a Central Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday to determine its next steps, but that he does not expect Faber to reverse his decision.

A press briefing will be scheduled for Wednesday.

A date of March 27 has reportedly been agreed for the leadership convention in which Tracey Taegar-Panton and Moses “Shyne” Barrow are declared candidates; it would be the third convention in just over two years for the UDP to determine a new leader.
