By Benjamin Flowers: Today, Tropic Air announced that it is starting a new nonstop flight to El Salvador this month.
The flight, which officially launches on Friday, February 11th, will offer nonstop service between El Salvador International Airport Saint Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez (formally Comalapa International Airport) in San Salvador (SAL) and the Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE). The flight will initially be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The airline said that the one-hour flight will be on a modern twin-engine Beechcraft 1900D aircraft that seats 19 passengers. The new flight also launches with a special airfare of US$99, which will be in place until February 28.
Speaking on the new service, Tropic Air’s Chief Executive Officer Steven Schulte, noted that Salvador is a major destination with a lot of potential and that the new route falls in line with the airline’s prioritizing of regional connectivity.
Meanwhile, Tropic Air’s President, John E Greif III, said, “We are very proud of our international service growth, connecting Belize to multiple regional destinations over the last 10-plus years. San Salvador is considered a second home to many in Belize, with many historical and economic ties, so our expansion into this market is a natural one. We are very excited to add the destination to our Tropic family.”
The airline also noted that the new service comes with a lot of economic potential as San Salvador is the economic epicenter of Northern Central America and an important trading partner for Belize.
