Belize Tourism Board names Destiny Wagner as Sustainable Tourism Ambassador

Posted: Wednesday, February 2, 2022. 6:38 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) announced that it has named Destiny Wagner, who was recently crowned as Ms. Earth 2021/2022, as its new Sustainable Tourism Ambassador.

The BTB made the announcement this morning during the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations (APAMO) geared towards strengthening cooperation in the sustainable development of the country’s protected areas.

“The BTB is pleased to have her join the industry as an advocate for such an important form of tourism and look forward wholeheartedly to working with her,” the BTB said.

Wagner is already a big name in the area of conservation and sustainable development with her November 20, 2021 victory in the 21st Miss Earth Pageant. Wagner was chosen from a total of 88 competitors and became the first black winner of the pageant in the last 19 years, according to Yahoo News.

The Miss Earth pageant is the third largest beauty pageant in the world and was established to promote environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility, all things which Destiny will be continuing as the new Sustainable Tourism Ambassador.

Breaking Belize News takes this time to congratulate Wagner, and wishes her the best as she continues to represent Belize with elegance.
