By BBN Staff: Twenty-year-old Lincoln Daniel Diaz will have to stand trial for the murder of Ladyville businessman Orin Velasquez, also known as Bredda O.
Diaz appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s court today for his preliminary inquiry, where prosecutors submitted more than 10 recorded statements on DVDs, including a caution statement by Diaz himself, 12 documentary exhibits, and as many as 59 photographs.
After considering the evidence, the Magistrate determined that Diaz has a case to answer for at the Supreme Court, and committed him to stand trial in the June Session, with his next court date being on June 13.
Orin Velasquez was shot dead on the night of July 27, 2020, at his business Bredda O’s Pizza in Ladyville. He was shot in the commission of a robbery, in which the culprit made off with $200, the day’s sales.
In November that year, police would arrest and charge Diaz for the murder. He prepares to spend his 21st birthday – February 18, on remand at the Belize Central Prison.
