Biscayne girl knocked down in traffic accident

By Aaron Humes: A 10-year-old student from Biscayne village, Belize District, is spending the evening in the hospital after being knocked down crossing the Philip Goldson Highway this afternoon.

Police say Corozal Town construction worker Santos Escobar was driving north around 1 p.m. today when at mile 24, he saw a minor female trying to quickly cross the road as his vehicle approached. He applied the brakes but was unable to avoid hitting her.

The girl, identified as Jahmia Rhaburn, sustained swelling and scrapes to the left side of her forehead and was rushed to hospital.

Police are investigating and a notice of intended prosecution has been issued to Escobar.
