San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Council polling residents to rename Santa Elena bridge

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town (SISE) Council is polling residents to rename the Santa Elena Bridge.

“The Council would like to get the input from the residents of the Twin Towns,” said the SISE Town Council in an early Monday morning post on Facebook.

The Council suggested people vote for Twin Town Bridge, Macal Bridge, Unity Bridge, or for any name they would like.

Persons commenting on the post suggested the SISE Town Council should do an online survey and attach a link to the post. That way the votes would be counted automatically rather than the Council going through each comment individually.

Another suggestion to come up with a name was to make it a competition involving schools.

Meanwhile, other names suggested are Trapiche Bridge because the Bridge passes through that area, Joseph Andrews Drive because it is on that drive, and El Cayo Bridge.

Someone, for whatever reason, has even suggested Fugitive Bridge.

The SISE Town Council Facebook poll was not assigned a cutoff date nor time.
