City teenager, 18, charged with two counts of “unlawful sexual intercourse” with minor

By BBN Staff: Legally an adult, 18-year-old San Pedro resident Pedro Sho, was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this afternoon to be charged for having sex with a female under the age of 16-years-old.

Sho appeared in court unrepresented and was officially charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, for one incident happening in August 2021, and another on February 5, 2022.

In court, Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford explained to him that the offenses he is charged with are indictable matters, so no plea would be taken from him.

She explained to him that she was only to ensure that he understood the charges read to him as the matter will be dealt with in a trial at a later date in the Supreme Court.

She also explained to him that she could not grant him bail and the matter was adjourned for April 8, 2022.

Sho was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until his next court date.
