CARDI does amazing work says the Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) praised the work of the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) after a recent visit to the facilities at Central Farm, Cayo.

MAFSE said in a social media post that during the visit they were reminded of “the amazing facilities and work being done by Ms. Omaira Avila Rostant, CARDI Representative / Biotechnologist in Belize and her crew.”

“The facilities offer laboratory analysis and testing of seeds, drying facilities, trials of test crops, and seed production for crops like hot pepper, corn, soybean, beans and peanuts, among others,” said MAFSE.

The Agriculture Ministry post said CARDI has been assigned as the region’s Center of Excellence for cereals and grain legumes.

“They collaborate with many other organizations in the Agricultural sector and specialize in helping farmers achieve increased yields and higher quality of their commodities through research and technical assistance.”
