By BBN Staff: Corozal police say that a driver who knocked down a 20-year-old Corozal resident near the Corozal Free Zone is not cooperating with them and is not allowing his blood alcohol level to be tested.
Police say the twenty-one-year-old man was driving an SUV in an area some 300 yards from the entrance of the Free Zone when he allegedly hit a pedestrian, 20-year-old Odiel Tzul from behind.
Tzul was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital and later taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is listed as being in critical condition.
Police say when they requested a blood sample from Acosta, to test his alcohol levels, he refused to comply.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
