Premier League to return for next football season, executive now co-managing FFB TOP League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) will return for the next football season in August but for now, the PLB executive is co-managing the FFB TOP League.

“For this closing season, we are doing a joint operation,” said FFB Secretary General Earl Jones.

“We are running it together so that there’s going to be a good transition back to the Premier League at the end of this Closing Season.”

Jones said the PLB’s return happens after the members who had taken the PLB because they felt they claimed they had been to the PLB Executive and were not recognized by the FFB.

“The matter was withdrawn by the other parties from before the Supreme Court, so it reverts back to where they left off where they were supposed to have the revision of statutes and they are supposed to go now to do the elections.”

For now, Ian Haylock remains the President of the PLB.

“We revert to what it was two years ago when the injunction stopped the election. They will go back as the interim executives to conduct the proper election sometime this year,” said Jones.

“At the end of the closing season, they (the PLB) take back full control.”
