By Aaron Humes: At the recent opening of its new Dangriga branch, Westrac Limited was charged not only with providing needed services but to also be a good corporate citizen, to reach out to the community.

Town Administrator Francis Flores noted that Westrac and Dangriga Town Council have previously worked together in fixing an important road in town. He hopes opportunities extend to employing local workers and being generous with service lines.

Another example is in education, where there was a donation to Holy Angels R.C. School in Pomona. In fact, according to the marketing manager for Westrac Julian Thiessen, education, youth, and sporting activities are regular areas of investment for the company.

“Investing in education when it comes to community outreach is something that pays back big,” Thiessen told us, and he hopes to bring that impact to the Culture Capital and provide opportunities for partnerships between the Westrac Dangriga Branch team and the community and its residents.

Area representative Dr. Louis Zabaneh hailed the “great move” forward, which he said represents at least $4 million in investment. “This is a sign of the upliftment of our community and stage by stage – it takes time to develop – but we are pleased to see we have this facility opening.”
