Orange Walk taximan shoots two men after they attack and stab him in his cab

By Benjamin Flowers: A taxi driver from Orange walk managed to fight off two men who attacked him and then shot two of them before driving himself to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment.

Forty-four-year-old Cain Cansino picked up Joel Arzu, 21, and Wilhelm Nunez, 21 around 11:00 p.m. from his taxi stand and was to drop them off at a location when they attacked him inside his cab.

Arzu held Cansino from behind while Nunez stabbed him three times. Cansino managed to struggle and get free from his attackers, exited the vehicle, and opened fire on the men with his licensed .38 revolver.

Arzu was shot to the throat, abdomen, and buttocks, while Nunez was shot to the right rib cage. The duo later arrived at the NRH for treatment under police guard.

All three men in the incident are listed in stable condition at the NRH. Charges are expected to be filed against Arzu and Nunez once they have been discharged.
