Belize begins Blue Bond repayments

By Aaron Humes: Government obtained funds through its recent supplementary allocation to start seeding the Conservation Fund under its Blue Bond arrangement.

Payments to this fund are quarterly (i.e., every three months) and meet the target of the Government’s commitment to the fund for conservation under the terms of the agreement with Credit Suisse, the U.S. Development Finance Corporation, and The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

Separate semi-annual payments for the actual loan will be obtained in the new fiscal year.

Belize has completed repayments of the “Superbond” and will now move toward paying down the replacement “Blue Bond”.
