Belize highlights Great Blue Hole, Belize’s cultural and marine ecosystems at Taiwan Lantern Festival

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s lantern at the National Taiwan Lantern Festival highlights Great Blue Hole, Belize’s cultural and marine ecosystems.

Belize’s lantern at the National Taiwan’s National Lantern Festival is highlighting the Great Blue Hole and Belize’s cultural and marine ecosystems, said the Embassy of Belize in Taiwan.

On Tuesday, the Belize Embassy held the inaugural ceremony for the Belize lantern at the National Taiwan Lantern Festival in Kaohsiung City, sister city to Belize City.

Ambassador Dr. Candice Pitts thanked Taiwan for the platform the lantern festival provides in exposing visitors to an important cultural element of Taiwan and exposing Taiwan to the cultures of Belize.

Belize’s lantern’s theme is “BELIZE: Where the Heavens Kiss the Earth”.

“Often regarded as one of the most amazing places on earth, the Great Blue Hole is a renowned recreational spot among scuba divers because of its crystal clear water and several species of fishes,” said the Belize Embassy.

Ambassador Pitts invited everyone present at the Belize lantern launch “to visit Belize and to see that God truly favors this Beautiful country”.

The Belize Embassy said it thanked all who attended the inaugural ceremony for the Belize lantern since they help in promoting Belize’s image and the relationship between Belize and Taiwan. The Embassy of Belize made special mention of Sheng Cheng-Tsung, Director General of Southern Taiwan Office of MOFA; Lin Hsin-Ren, Deputy Director-General of Tourism Bureau; Shan Bing Ho, Director General of International Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government; and Taiwan’s Central American Trade Office (CATO).
