By Aaron Humes: The Seabourn Cruise Line made its first port call in Belize on Wednesday with the new Seabourn Ovation.
According to the Belize Tourism Board, a special ceremony was held on Wednesday morning with participation from representatives from the Belize Tourism Board, the ship’s local port agent APEX Shipping Agency Limited, Belize Port Authority, and the Fort Street Tourism Village.
The ship arrived with 417 passengers on board. The Belize Tourism Board and partners were thrilled to host the first ship call in our destination and look forward to supporting their growth in Belize.
Belize recorded more than one million cruise ship passenger arrivals in 2019 before the pandemic shut down the industry in 2020. It has made a partial recovery in 2021 and 2022 but is in limbo as separate development projects fight to be the port of call replacing the Fort Street Tourism Village.
