Taiwanese Embassy donates masks to Ministry of Education

By Benjamin Flowers: The Republic of China (Taiwan) continues to support Belize’s national COVID-19 response, this time with a donation of facemasks to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST).

Today, H.E. David Kuan-Chou Chien, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize, handed over a donation of 5,000 medical face masks to the Minister of the MoECST Francis Fonseca. Joining Fonseca to receive the donation was Chief Executive Officer in the MoECST, Dian Maheia.

“This donation of facemasks will greatly complement the ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure all schools are equipped with sufficient and adequate PPE for the delivery of hybrid learning,” the Ministry said.

Taiwan has made a number of donations in support of the national pandemic response since the virus was first detected in Belize back in March 2020, including COVID-19 PCR testing machines, test kits, masks, and personal protective equipment for medical frontline staff.
