By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The opening games of the first-ever Concacaf Women’s World Cup Qualifiers have resulted in several blowout scores.
In the initial 12 games, the winning teams have scored a total of 68 goals for an average of 5.66 goals per game. Of the losing teams, the only one that scored was Nicaragua in their 2-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago. That was the most competitive game.
Belize’s 6-0 loss to El Salvador was the average score.
The most lopsided score was 9-0 in three matches: Guatemala over the US Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic over Grenada, and Mexico over Suriname.
Belize’s next game is on Sunday against Panama at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador at 3:00 pm.
