Eight new COVID-19 deaths reported; national total now over 640

By Benjamin Flowers: The ministry of Health and Wellness has reported eight new deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the national total above 640.

The new deaths bring the number of lives lost to the virus in Belize up to 641, with a fatality rate of 1.14. Seven of the total 8 deaths were female.

Of the total new deaths, five were unvaccinated and three were fully vaccinated.

The Ministry’s data also shows that 256 females and 385 males have died from COVID-19, the majority of which have been from the age group 80+ and were unvaccinated.
