Belize’s Women’s National Football Team (BWNT) are undaunted and are prepared to face Panama on Sunday in the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers, said the FFB in a social media post on Friday evening.
“We know what we need to do,” said defender Mikhaila Bowden.
“We got our first game jitters out of our system, and we need to focus up and play the way that we know we can play,” said Bowden about the 6-0 loss to El Salvador on Wednesday and the upcoming game against Panama.
Bowden, who hails out of California, is the first foreign-based player called to the BWNT, according to the FFB.
“Preparations continue! Game Mode On!!! Belize faces off against Panama on Sunday, February 20th, 2022, at 3:00pm! Continue sending love and support for our Jaguars,” said the FBB post accompanied by several photographs showing the BWNT in training.
Belize plays Panama on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Cuscatlán Stadium in San Salvador. That’s Belize’s second game in the 2023 Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers.
In the first set of games, Belize fell 6-0 to El Salvador on Wednesday while Panama beat Barbados 5-0 on Thursday.
