By Aaron Humes: Police have been around the country actively making busts of firearms and ammunition.
On Friday around 7:30 in the evening, a combined Precinct Two Quick Response and Special Branch team conducted searches on Pitter Street near Lords Ridge Cemetery in Belize City and found 50 IVI 9-millimeter rounds of ammunition in a blue plastic bag beside a tomb.
Around 5 p.m. in Seine Bight Village, Stann Creek District, a combined police team searched an abandoned lot in the back area near the lagoon and found a black plastic under an old plywood board under a tree.
The bag contained a brown .22 pistol and magazine, not loaded.
In both cases, the weapons found were deposited as found property as no one was in the immediate area of either search.
