By Aaron Humes: Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard has confirmed he will be presenting for approval at Cabinet this week, proposals to ease COVID-19-related restrictions, including and especially the daily curfew.
The Minister said Belize would move based on its current profile and situation and not try to imitate neighboring and influential countries where things such as mask mandates have been dropped entirely.
It is a balance, he said, between returning to a sense of normalcy and maintaining our guard against another wave of the pandemic.
Belize has had more than 55,000 cases to date with 641 deaths, however, 94 percent of those infected have recovered. The new regulations are hoped to take effect on March 1.
