By BBN Staff: A Belize City man who came to court over an issue of domestic violence is a free man tonight after the complainant dropped the charges.
The thirty-six-year-old man appeared in court charged with aggravated assault with a deadly instrument, after allegedly pulling a knife on his girlfriend during an altercation on February 19.
The complainant showed up in court today to give sworn testimony that she does not want any further court action.
When asked if she was being forced or threatened to drop the charges, the complainant said she was doing so of her own free will and could not repeatedly keep coming to court for adjournments because she has a job and children to take care of.
With that, the man was set free for want of prosecution.
