By Benjamin Flowers: The National Garifuna Council (NGC) is preparing to elect new leadership and has named an interim president in the meantime.
The NGC announced today that the new president will be chosen at its annual convention to be held from April 30-May 1, which will be held in Georgetown Village.
Meanwhile, the council’s 2nd Vice President Beatrice Mariano will serve as interim president with immediate effect.
“The Board congratulates Ms. Mariano for her continued commitment to the mission and vision of NGC. We also wish to take the opportunity to thank Mr. Castillo for his service as President of NGC, and we remain grateful for his continued support of the council,” the NGC said.
