501 Valvoline’s Brandon Cattouse captures 2022 Digi Valentine’s Cycling Tour Masters title

501 Valvoline’s Brandon Cattouse captured the Masters Category in the 2022 Digi Valentine’s Cycling Tour staged by the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) over the past weekend.

Cattouse was the top Masters in the 3.6-mile time trial Prologue on Saturday morning in 7 minutes and 58 seconds (7:58). Independent rider Robert Liam Stewart was second in 7:59 and M&M Engineering’s Roque Matus third in 8:33.

In stage two, Cattouse not only won the Masters but he was the overall winner of the 60-mile Bermudian Landing circuit on Saturday afternoon in 1:48:01. Team Cycology Dwayne Wade was second, Matus third, and Stewart fourth. The three had the same time as Cattouse.

Then, in the 102-mile Stage 3 on the George Price Highway, Boom Road and the Philip Goldson Highway, Cattouse was the top Masters clocking 4:16:44, the same time as Elite winner Giovanni Lovell of G Flow. Matus was second and Wade third, both one second behind in 4:16:45.

That gave Cattouse the Masters title, finishing with a total time of 6:12:19, just 14 seconds behind the Overall winner, his teammate Oscar Quiroz who clocked 6:12:05.

Matus was second in the Masters and FAL’s Marlon ‘Diesel’ Castillo was third. Both had the same time of 6:13:19. (Castillo was represented by teammate Hollis Baptist for the awards ceremony – see accompanying photograph).

Matus was the Tour’s Masters 45+ winner followed by Kulture’s Vallan Symns (6:13:28) and M&M’s Preston Martinez (6:49:20).
