By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Belize Police Department inaugurated its new Cyber Crime Center, in Belmopan City.
The new center is set to include a Digital Forensic Laboratory, qualified & trained personnel, and will have the responsibility of uncovering & interpreting electronic data through the process of finding, identifying, preserving, analyzing, documenting & presenting digital evidence.
Minister of Home Affairs & New Growth Industries, Hon. Kareem Musa, along with COMPOL Chester Williams, Supt. of Police Mario Alcoser & his staff, joined the representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC), attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon.
During his remarks at the ceremony, Musa thanked Mr. Gabriel Juárez, Project Coordinator UNODC & his team, along with Supt. Mario Alcoser and his team, for the creation & work of the well-needed Police Cyber Crime Center for Police Department.
