Daily COVID cases back to double digits for the first time since mid-December

By Aaron Humes: For the first time in more than two months, daily COVID-19 cases are below 100 – 76 to be exact, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

A total of 189 recoveries were reported, reducing the number of active cases to 1,720 with 139 samples under investigation.

The daily positivity rate stands at 8.56 percent as Belize inches closer to half a million tests done since the pandemic began on a population much higher than Belize’s stated one.

On the downside, another person died and the number of hospitalizations rose again after coming down since Monday.

Belize has now recorded 56,450 cases of COVID-19, of which nearly 96 percent of patients have recovered.
