By Aaron Humes: Investigations continue by Police and fire personnel into the cause of a fire that took down six houses in adjoining yards in the village of Red Bank, Stann Creek District, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police interviews, the fire appeared to have originated from the residence of 22-year-old Anna Sub, who said she was at home in the kitchen with her baby when she noticed flames coming from her house that quickly engulfed the wooden and thatch roof structure.

The kitchen which is separate from the house then caught fire and aided by the breeze the conflagration quickly spread to the adjoining yard where four wooden houses with thatch roofs of varying sizes and another kitchen also went up in flames.

One of those belonged to Maria Sub who estimated she lost $18,000 in the total value of the house and its contents while Anna Sub lost $9,000 in total value. None of the houses were insured.

Efforts are being made to resettle and otherwise assist the families affected by the fire.
