By BBN Staff: A 19-year-old Ladyville resident was remanded to the Belize Central Prison over a number of charges, including allegedly pulling a gun on a police officer.
Cameron Hemsley was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm upon a police officer.
In Court, Hemsley, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to all charges but due to the nature of the offenses, he was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until April 28, 2022.
Allegations against him are that he committed the December 2021 robbery at a bar in Ladyville and that on February 16, he robbed a woman of her cellphone at gunpoint. While escaping from that robbery, he encountered Police constable Lloyd Andrews. Hemsley allegedly pulled his gun on the officer so he could escape.
