Sixteen new Cuban medical and nursing officers join Belize medical field

Sixteen new Cuban medical and nursing officers have joined the Belize medical field according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW).

The MOHW said on Thursday it held a sensitization session for the new Cuban medical brigade that joins the Belize Public Health System.

“The country’s epidemiological profile and the programmatic areas were discussed, such as STI/HIV/TB, COVID-19 status, Vector Control, Maternal & Child Health, National Nursing Status and Regulations, and the Laws of Belize,” said a social media post by the MOHW.

“Our sincere gratitude to the people and Government of Cuba for their support with human resource for health especially in this time as we continue the fight against COVID-19,” added the MOHW which also acknowledged the presence of the Ambassador and Consul of Cuba to Belize Maria Caridad Balaguer Labrada and Gustavo Aguinaga Linares. Both joined the session on Thursday.
